Paxton strained his hamstring earlier in spring training, and Saturday will start his ramp-up as he tries to get ready for the regular season. He won’t be ready for Opening Day and will likely begin the season on the injured list, with a return in mid-April as his best-case scenario.
Paxton was once one of the better-starting pitchers in the game but has only made six starts since the end of the 2019 season due to various injuries, the biggest being Tommy John surgery. Paxton is a long shot at becoming a reliable starting pitcher again and is a dartboard throw at best for the Sox this season.
The once mighty Red Sox aren’t expected to do much this season. They are +2000 to win the American League this season, well behind the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and Tampa Bay Rays. You can find the odds for every team to win their division on the FanDuel Sportsbook.
